At first glance, the name of our new member seems confusing – DE JESUS C. CASTILLO. To someone whose work entails constant proofreading, it required double checking as to which the first name is and which the family name is. No doubt about it, De Jesus is the name which explains why he is fondly called “Jessie” by his friends.

She first came to the consciousness of the club when she wrote that piece about her father, IPP Carlito”Lito” L. Parel, describing him as “One Selfish Dream Maker”.  The club then waited expectantly for her formal public appearance during the 23rd Induction as she was tapped to emcee the same, only to get sick on the very day of the event.

Ms. Clarissa N. Angeles (a.k.a. Claire Angeles) is a former High School Social Science Teacher (specifically in Philippine and World History) and Moderator of the Writers' Guild at St. Mary's College Quezon City. At present, she is a University Research Associate at the Department of Political Science, UP Diliman, and a freelance writer and editor She has published numerous poems, essays and short stones in both English and Filipino in various websites, newspapers, magazines and books, and has won in several national writing contests. She is a founding member of the National Writers' Group called KATINIG and a regular contributor to its quarterly publication, TINIG. She hopes to finish writing her first novel by 2010.
